16 Quotes To Help You Think Differently in 2016

Recently, I thought of a simple New Year resolution — find a way every day to look at something in the world differently. This would involve reading daily posts on Quora, getting more invested in social media, meeting people chasing bold and lofty ideas, and reading more books that claim unconventional advice.

In addition, I wanted to continue one of my favorite past times: collecting quotes that introduced new perspectives and thought-provoking insights. Here are some of my favorites that helped me think differently….

… About Creativity:

“Creativity is just connecting things. When you ask creative people how they did something, they feel a little guilty because they didn’t really do it, they just saw something. It seemed obvious to them after a while. That’s because they were able to connect experiences they’ve had and synthesize new things.” — Steve Jobs

… About Intelligence:

“If you can’t outsmart: outwork, outcare, outgive, outlove, outlisten, outplan, outrisk, outpraise, outrespect, and outdream.” — Seth Godin

… About Expectation:

“The greatest danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it; it’s that our aim is too low and we reach it.” — Michelangelo

About Complacency:

“Whenever an individual or a business decides that success has been attained, progress stops.” — Thomas Watson

About Listening

“Opportunity is often missed because we are broadcasting when we should be tuning in.” — Thomas Edison

.. About Perfection:

… About Validation:

… About Reading:

“If I read a book that costs $20 and I get one good idea, I’ve gotten one of the best bargains of all time.” — Tom Peters

… About Failure:

“If there’s a 90% chance of failure, there’s a 10% chance of changing the world.” — Vinod Khosla

… About Conformity

“Normal is an illusion. Normal for the spider is chaos for the fly.” — Morticia Addams

…. About Curiosity

“No one is dumb who is curious. The people who don’t ask questions remain clueless through their lives.” — Neil Degrasse Tyson

…. About Success

“Success is making those who believed in you look brilliant.” — Dharmesh Shah

… About Optimism

“See the light in others and treat them as if that is all you see.” — Dr. Wayne Dyer

… About Entrepreneurship

… About Perspective

… About Potential

“Sometimes the people with the greatest potential often take the longest to find their path because their sensitivity is a double edged sword- it lives at the heart of their brilliance, but it also makes them more susceptible to life’s pains. Good thing we aren’t being penalized for handing in our purpose late. The soul doesn’t know a thing about deadlines.” — Jeff Brown

If any of these have opened your mind, feel free to share. I’d also love to hear some of your favorite quotes and big ideas for 2016. Have a safe and happy New Year!
